In ink on front, "Yours Truly Jno B Guthrie", a Lieutenant in the 8th Tenn. Cavalry (from an album)  He wears kepi, fatigue blouse with shoulder straps. Another Union man from a Confederate state.  I believe this unit was the group that captured and killed the Confederate Cavalry raider, John Hunt Morgan.

Armed Federal Infantry officer , full standing view holding sword in front.  He wears the officer's frock coat, with sash and sword belt.  Kepi has the hunters horn on front.  In ink on reverse, "Lieu M.B. In ink on front, "D.L. Kiretsinger" bust view of Union officer. On reverse in pencil "3 Arkansas of African descent USCT Officers of Colored Regiments were white - so I understand Supposedly were among best officers motivated by more than the possibility of their own advancement.  Photos of Federal soldiers from Confederate States are rare.

Standing view of 1st Lt. Septimus Carncross, 10th N.Y.V. "National Zouaves".   Good, clear CDV of a Zouave officer wearing epaulets, sword, sash and sword belt with the Gothic script "NY" belt plate and kepi with the wreathed "US".    Signed in ink on reverse.
